  • Climate
  • The Republic of Korea lies between 38’N and 33’N latitude and 126’E to 132’E longitude. The country has continental climate of very cold, dry winters and very hot, humid summers. Winters are influenced by westerly from Siberia and the Mongolian plateau, while summers are generally characterized by an oceanic climate due to moist, warm winds from the Pacific Ocean. Korea has four distinct seasons, though spring and autumn tend to be short. Spring comes in early April and lasts throughout May. The hot and humid summer begins in June and lasts about four months. The summer rainy session lasts from the end of June to mid July. Summer ends in the September, giving way to crisp, clear autumn days that last until the end of October. It becomes colder in November, and a very cold, bleaker winter sets in during December and lasts until the end of February.

    • Money(Coins and Notes)
    Coin denominations are 1, 5, 10, 50, 100 and 500 KRW, but 1 and 5 KRW coins are rarely used. Notes are 1,000, 5,000, 10,000 and 50,000 KRW. Bank cheques of 100,000 KRW can also be used and issued, but you will need to show your ID in order to use them.

    • Voltage
    The voltage in Korea is 220V/60Hz, and uses a 2 round pin plug. It is easy to find converters in Seoul, however, you might want to bring your own if you bring your own laptop.
